It Will Be Ok: Creatively and in Life

Cloud Oil Study - A Beginning by Sara Renzulli

Life is mimicking art on the regular these days.  When I create, my constant mantra is “It will be okay.”  Ask anyone who works with me.  Kyla and I might be laying out a blanket and she says, “Should we worry about this wrinkle?” and I inevitably say, “Nah, it will be ok.”  I charge ahead in the creative spirit without over thinking.  I know that being in my flow will lead to good even if the specific project is not a “success.”  I am always working on applying this concept to my life, which is harder for some reason.

We are meant to follow our highest excitement, to the best of our ability, with integrity, with no attachment to outcome.

Releasing attachment to outcomes is easier said than done.  We all want things for ourselves, in love, in security, in health, in successes,…  But living in a place in which we know we have all we need right there inside of us and all around us is the key to peace.  I learn from my art self; have a vision, KNOW that vision is one and the same as I am, be in it, understand there is purpose, and let go of any expectation of where it goes.

The only time wasted is time worrying about what we are missing or doing wrong. Enjoy your abilities and lack of them!

I was thinking about beginner’s luck and the joy that comes with our first experiences.  When we take on a new craft, we know that we know nothing.  We go in like The Fool card in tarot - excited, ready, and willing.  Beginners luck is actually an energetic reward for being an empty vessel of possibility.  But then, we might enjoy that new endeavor so much that we want to get better and see results.

Then we enter the practice phase.  We begin to implement control hoping to see the results we want.  We might experience frustration with our skills in this phase.  And this ok; we need to train and practice.  This is the process of soaking up information and making it knowledge.  Enjoy that phase too.  As long as we are enjoying it and in flow, results still do not matter; there is purpose.  It doesn’t matter what it looks like to anyone else!  This is your journey, not to be measured or judged.  But sure, this can be a frustrating time.

And finally, after so much practice, that skill becomes one with us.  It becomes our experience and knowledge.  At that point, we can share.  We share by being the person who went through that process and can help another - in art, in love, in health, in athletics, in all aspects of life.  In fact, this very bit of writing was born in my own struggles and experiences.

If we do not allow ourselves to follow passions, out of fear or concern, we have less to contribute. It’s not selfish to indulge in flow; it’s our best shot at healing the whole.

Practice trusting your highest excitement and following it with abandon of outcome.  Because this practice, in art, in all we do in life, will not only give us peace, but  connects us to our purpose and cultivates experience that contribute the collective.
